The Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) was developed at the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education through Virginia’s Early Intervention Reading Initiative (EIRI). Since its release in 1997, PALS has spread to all 50 states as well as many foreign countries for early identification and intervention.
